Important Dates and Events
- 1820, Agustin de Iturbide, the Royalist General changes sides and becomes the leader of the Rebels.
- Feb.
24, 1821 The Iguala Plan is created by Agustin de Iturbide. The plan asked for
the Indecency of Mexico.
- Aug. 24, 1821, The representative of the king of Spain, Juan O’Donoju signs the Treaty of Cordoba. The Treaty called for the independency of Mexico as an independent constitutional monarchy.
- May 19, 1822, Iturbide becomes Agustin I, the new emperor of Mexico.
- March
19, 1823, Iturbide goes to Italy then Germany. He
was a horrible ruler who could not bring order and peace to Mexico. So Victoria
and Antonio López de Santa Anna secretly plotted against him then later
overthrew him.
- July 15, 1824 Iturbide is captured when he comes back to Mexico.
- July 19, 1824 Iturbide is executed.
- 1824, Guadalupe Victoria becomes Mexico’s first elected president and turns Mexico into a Republic.
